I also wanted to respond to Erik WAAAAY up thread about spanking children and I’m sorry he mentioned black people and race as that just gets people stirred up. But I think I know what he meant, as I think there are less white people who spank than black or other races. I think as far as it being more seen in black culture, from way back, black children HAD to be respectful to not just their parents, but white people especially and small children may not have realized how this could have dire consequences on their life, so physical reprimands were in demand.

It carried over from generation to generation and for the most part, it sure keeps people in line. I think more kids need to be spanked. It is not necessary for all kids, some can get a “look” and get in line, but some of these kids screaming “I hate you! Just die!” because they can’t stay out past 11:00p just goes to far. then the parents toss up their hands and don’t know what to do. or when your 15 y/o tells you to “F off” too your face and get out of their room, do you just sigh and leave? Spanking may be too late, but I bet had he been getting it up until then, he wouldn’t be doing that, and if he let is slip, he’d be reminded. The more parents let go, then they are surprised when their teen acts up. Go figure.
